About the TRIO-SSS Program

By providing a variety of services to meet students’ needs, we assist eligible participants in clarifying their goals, succeeding academically in their chosen program of study, and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in a timely manner.
Success at Southern TRIO SSS program is funded through a federal grant and is limited to 190 participants per academic year. During these years, Success at Southern TRIO SSS program has served more than 1,500 students, most of them first-generation and low-income students.

Our Mission
The Success at Southern TRIO SSS program is dedicated to providing a holistic environment that honors the diversity and experiences of all students. Through a grant competition (Title IV), funds are awarded to institutions of higher education to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education.
Our Objectives
1. Good Academic Standing: 89% of all project participants served by the TRIO project will meet the performance level required to stay in good academic standing at the grantee institution.
2. Persistence Rate: 75% of all project participants served by the TRIO project will persist from one academic year to the beginning of the next academic year.
3. Bachelor’s Degree Attainment: 46% of new participants served each year will graduate within six years.
Success at Southern TRIO SSS is committed to serving TRIO SSS students as effectively as possible while doing everything we can to keep our community safe and healthy.
TRIO SSS provides both in-person and some online services.
